The Numerical Reasoning Tests

Numerical reasoning tests are assessments designed to evaluate a candidate's ability to interpret, analyse and apply numerical information. They are commonly used by employers to assess candidates' suitability for roles that require strong mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities. In these tests, candidates are presented with various numerical data in the form of tables, graphs, charts or word problems and are asked to perform calculations using basic mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios and trends.

Our Approach

As our name suggests, you are not here to do endless math tests or read through tiring situations or scenarios. You are here to learn so that you can master the basics and tackle any complex questions that come your way. Do not practise again and again without understanding where you are going wrong.

Our Numerical Reasoning Practice Tests are divided into two zones: the Learning Zone and the Challenge Zone.

In the Learning Zone, you start with fundamentals of aptitude/cognitive tests to build up your knowledge around ratios, currency, time, percentage, etc and be prepared to deal with more complex tests.

In the Challenge Zone, you work on real assessment-like questions that cover a wide range of test types from various test providers. If you are good with basics and only want to refresh your memory, you can start directly in the Challenge Zone.

You can find out more about our list of numerical reasoning practice tests below.

This Practice Test Package Includes:

Learning Zone: Basic Calculations Level 1

This test includes basic math questions, such as 3 x 3 and -6 x 3, and aims to make sure that you have a basic grasp of mathematics. If you do not pass this test, you need to practise more before advancing to the next test.

Learning Zone: Basic Calculations Level 2

This test includes basic math questions. However, it is slightly more difficult than level 1. If you do not pass this test, please practise more before advancing to the next test.

Learning Zone: Basic Calculations Level 3

This test includes basic math questions. However, it is slightly more difficult than level 2. If you do not pass this test, please practise more before advancing to the next test. You may also need a calculator for this test.

Learning Zone: Skill Practice - Rounding

Does “please keep your answer to the nearest whole number” sound familiar? And do you know how to do this? You will learn how to find the nearest whole numbers and determine decimal places within this test. Not rounding properly can impact your real assessment score.

Learning Zone: Percentage Level 1

Questions where you have to calculate percentages or require you to use percentage calculations to reach a final answer will appear in almost all real numerical tests. However, many job applicants do not know how to accurately calculate %. This level is designed to help you to master this skill.

Learning Zone: Percentage Level 2

Questions where you have to calculate percentages or require you to use percentage calculations to reach a final answer will appear in almost all real numerical tests. However, many job applicants do not know how to accurately calculate %. This level is slightly harder than Level 1 and is designed to help you to master this skill.

Learning Zone: Percentage - Verbal

This test will help you develop the same skill as Percentage Level 1 and Level 2 but within a verbal context. In real numerical tests, you will also need to read verbal instructions to correctly solve questions. By doing this test, you can improve both your reading and calculation speed.

Learning Zone: Skill Practice - Ration and Proportion

Virtually all numerical assessments include at least one question where you need to calculate ratios or proportions. In order to make sure that you solve them right, you need to practice the basics first. This test will help you learn how to calculate ratios.

Learning Zone: Skill Practice - Time

Do you know how to convert months to weeks, days, hours and even minutes correctly? Maybe, but can you do it fast enough to respect the time limit? This test aims to help you improve your speed and accuracy in time conversions.

Learning Zone: Skill Practice - Currency

Many numerical assessments involve currency conversion to solve some questions. If you are not familiar with them, you often end up spending a lot of time, impacting your overall test progress. This test will help you understand different concepts and learn to convert between different currencies to solve math questions.

Learning Zone: Skill Practice - Solving Equations

Solving equations involves identifying the missing number by calculating both sides of the equations. They can be challenging, but they are important! Without knowing how to solve equations, you will struggle with many numerical tests. This test helps you improve your logic and calculation speed.

Challenge Zone: Assessment One

The style of questions in Assessment One is similar to questions in Cappfinity's online assessments. Cappfinity is a very popular assessment provider, and the following companies use Cappfinity as their test provider: AECOM, DHL, Expedia, EY, HSBC, TFL, KPMG, Lloyds Banking Group, London Stock Exchange, MacDonald's, Mazars, M&G Investment, M&S, Sainsbury's, Shell, Sky and many more. Please note that there are more than 100 questions in this assessment.

Challenge Zone: Assessment Two

The style of questions in Assessment Two is more general and suitable for the majority of companies. There are only multiple-choice-style questions in this test with charts and graphs.

Challenge Zone: Numerical Logic

In this assessment, you will be presented with various numbers and asked to fill in the missing number based on the logic between the presented numbers. For example, Questions: 1, 2, 3, 4, __ Answer: It should be 5. The actual assessment is a lot harder than this example.
